Jeff Ward - Quotes - We started off with a couple of changes in the car from when we tested. I wasn't real happy with it, it was a little loose. We started off a little slow, which is really what you want to do. Every time you come back here you never want to jump into the speed that you left with, because it took you a day and a half to get there when you did it. You start off with step one again, and we're at 222 (mph) with this motor, our weakest motor. This motor hasn't been rebuilt yet.
We've got a good shot at the first couple rows. I don't know if the pole is within question. It just depends on who can do four really good laps. Guys can hit 225's and 224's, but you have to do four of them. If we can get a car that can do 223.5 for four laps, that's a good time. I think we can do that.
We've got the car back to where we tested it. I feel good with it. It takes a while to get back in the groove, it's only the first day. We've got six more days of running here to get comfortable. Every time you come back here, you never feel as good as when you left the last time. With a 222 on the first day, we're in good shape.
We'll have some more things to try tomorrow. We'll get in our race car, get it built with the good motor, put all the things that we've learned on it, and we should pick up a couple of miles an hour.
