INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, March 7, 2002 - Blair Racing filed two entries March 7 for the 86th Indianapolis 500, including one for its full-time Indy Racing League driver, Alex Barron.

Barron, from Menifee, Calif., will drive the No. 44 Blair Racing Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone, with an identical backup entered. He will attempt to make his first Indianapolis 500 start.

Gary Neal is the chief mechanic of the No. 44 entry.

Blair Racing also entered the No. 45 Blair Racing Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone and an identical backup. The driver and chief mechanic will be announced later.

Bob Sprow is the general manager of both entries by Blair Racing, which moved to the Indy Racing League full time after competing in CART in 2001.

The 86th Indianapolis 500 is May 26 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Entry invitations were mailed Feb. 22, and entries must be postmarked by April 3. All drivers will compete for one of the 33 starting spots in the world's most prestigious auto race.
