Indianapolis, IN-The Pennzoil Panther Racing team had a bittersweet day today at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The team started the month in fine form, consistently running quickly in practice, and qualifying in the 9th position for today's start. Goodyear and the Panther "Pack" started the race and were rapidly moving through the field despite dealing with some handling problems early on in the race. Goodyear was in 4th position when they took a pit stop on lap 99. After exiting the pits Goodyear radioed to the crew that he had an engine malfunction. "I knew immediately that we had some type of mechanical failure and was just so disappointed. I had just been thinking as I looked at the drivers who were in contention at that time, that 'man, these last 100 laps were going to be some great racing' but unfortunately for us, we were done." Said Goodyear. It appears that some type of mechanical failure was responsible for ending the "Packs" day early, more will be known later in the week on the exact malfunction.

There were some bright moments during today's race. Tyce Carlson, who was driving the second Pennzoil Car for today's race completed the race in 14th position. "Indy is always exciting and I was just really happy to be there at the end. I would have liked to finish farther up in the field, but right now, it just felt good to finish." Said Carlson.
