INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 5, 2003) -- For the second day in a row, Dan Wheldon lead the Andretti Green Racing team on the speed charts posting the fifth- fastest lap today in the Klein Tools/Jim Beam entry at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Wheldon's speed of 228.233 miles per hour (39.4334 seconds) around the 2.5-mile oval came during "Happy Hour," the last hour of practice for the day.

Last night's thunderstorms delayed the start of practice by nearly 90 minutes, but once the track went green Wheldon was able to complete 63 laps. The Klein Tools/Jim Beam crew worked again on its race setup during the early stages of practice and then trimmed the car out to find a solid qualifying setup.

Tora Takagi set the fasted speed today at 229.019 miles per hour (39.2980 seconds). Scott Sharp was second quick at 228.766 miles per hour (39.3415 seconds) and Scott Dixon was third fastest, posting a best lap of 228.427 miles per hour (39.3999 seconds). "Today went really well. Andretti Green Racing has done a good job preparing me for the Indianapolis 500 and the Klein Tools/Jim Beam crew has done a great job getting the car ready. We didn't have any problems with the car and we were able to run fast right away. We have a set program we are working through and we aren't going to deviate from it. So I'm happy we were fast today but it is still early to get too excited."

"I think it's great to see how AGR is working together. Everything is pretty much going to plan, which at Indianapolis in May is a test in itself. I'm very, very impressed with Dan after working with him for two days. He gives the team great feedback on the car and he has done a terrific job. He is comfortable and fast at the same time. Now, we just need to get a little bit more speed out of it and he'll be happy.
