Homestead, Fla. (April 7, 2001) - Notes from the Infiniti Grand Prix of Miami presented by 123.com Americatel at Homestead-Miami Speedway:

Marc-Antonine Camirand.won the first of two U.S. F2000 races this weekend. Second went to Camirand's teammate Billy Asaro, followed by Jason LaPoint, Jeff Harrison and Arie Luyendyk Jr. in fifth. Luyendyk wasn't the only famous name in the F2000 race this afternoon, Vanina Ickx, daughter of Jacky Ickx finished 11th, the last car on the lead lap.

Al Unser Jr. leads the voting in the 2001 Most Popular Driver Award conducted by the Indy Racing League Crew. Billy Boat is second in the popularity contest followed by Eddie Cheever Jr., Sarah Fisher and Buddy Lazier.

The honorary starter for Sunday's race will be Don Francisco, host of the popular television show "Sabado Gigante" and spokesperson for 123.com. Francisco will wave the green flag to start the 300 mile Infiniti Grand Prix.

Former Heisman Trophy winner and Super Bowl XXXI MVP Desmond Howard was the guest of Brayton Engineering today. Howard, who plays for the Detroit Lions, will also attend tomorrow's race.

Interested spectators at Homestead Miami Speedway today included Johnny Parsons Jr., Steve Knapp, Scott Goodyear, Donnie Beechler, Johnny Unser, Jimmy Kite, Richie Hearn, P.J. Jones and John Paul Jr.
