The Friday morning practice session scheduled from 9:30am to 11:00 am was placed on hold due to showers and track drying time. Session is now under green flag. Drivers are slowly returning to the track.

Prior to the hold, Eddie Cheever Jr had set the fastest time in the session with Sam Hornish Jr only 0.062 behind him. Not all teams have been out on-track this morning.

Word of time allowed for the session has not been released.

UPDATE:
Session ended -- qualifying to be delayed.

Donnie Beechler spun and was airlifted to the Medical Center in Miami due to complaints of back and neck pain.  The driver of
the AJ Foyt Racing No. 14 hit the wall hard enough to lose his rear wing.  Further updates as they become available.

Track is on hold while awaiting helicopter so that qualifying may start.

Qualifying will start at 1:00 pm EST -- delayed one-half hour from originally scheduled time.

THIRD UPDATE:
Qualifying is on hold.

The start of MBNA Pole Qualifying for the 20th Anniversary Grand Prix of Miami has been delayed indefinitely due to a serious accident at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series practice.
