* Darren Manning (212.377 mph) was the high qualifying Target car and will start the Toyota Indy 300 from row 6 after qualifying 12th
* Scott Dixon (211.726 mph) will start from row 8 on the grid at Homestead Miami Speedway after qualifying 16th
* Rookie Ryan Briscoe will begin his first race in the IndyCar series from the last row per IndyCar Series rules as he will take the helm of the #33T Target back up car. Near the end of Saturday morning practice, Ryan Briscoe damaged his primary #33 Target Toyota when he lost control of the car as he headed into the pits and spun back on the track and making contact with the race track wall. As the car could not be repaired for the qualifying session, the team opted not to participate in the qualifying session and prepared the back up car for the final practice/ race warm up later that afternoon. Ryan Briscoe will start the Toyota Indy 300 from the 22nd spot on the grid at the Homestead Miami Speedway.
#9 Scott Dixon- Toyota / Panoz /Firestone
"We didn't expect to qualify very high on the grid as we decided to concentrate on our race set up since starting position on a superspeedway such as this doesn't really mean very much. We might not have been very quick but it's about what we expected because the #9 Target Toyota was in more race trim than Darren's (Manning's) car. The Target crew made some big changes overnight to be ready and we're pretty confident about our race set up. I'll be looking to stay with the main pack and work my way up through the field throughout the race. The Target team has worked very hard this off season and we're feeling pretty confident really and looking forward to starting the year off on a positive note."
#10 Darren Manning- Toyota / Panoz /Firestone
"We're pretty satisfied with the result considering we didn't spend a lot of time on our qualifying set up and rather concentrated on preparing the #10 Target Toyota for the race. It feels really comfortable in traffic and we're looking to run in a big pack. The last few races of the season I feel like we really left a lot on the table and that was a real shame especially missing the last two races of 2004. I'd like to make up for that right from the start of this season. We'll be three wide out there and I feel that the Target crew has set up the Panoz to be able to run any line out there. I can't wait to go racing!"

Did Not Qualify-Will start from the back of the grid in the #33T Target back up car.
"I'm a little disappointed not to have participated in qualifying as it adds to the experience of my first IndyCar race weekend, but really on this kind of race track, starting position is not imperative. I might be starting last but Hopefully I'll have a lot of the cars in my mirrors before long. I'll be looking to move my way through the pack and take in and learn as much as I can as I go, but I want to be smart about it and get to the finish."
On his shunt in Saturday morning practice heading into the pits:
"I was coming in reasonably fast and I went wide through pit lane and got into the grass, which got me up onto the track. It's a good thing it happened in practice and there weren't a lot of cars on the track when I went up there. Fortunately I came out of it relatively unscathed."
