Florence, KY - Baseball Great Pete Rose will be the Grand Marshall of the August 27th "Belterra Resort Indy 300" an Indy Racing Northern Light Series event at the new Kentucky Speedway™.

Mr. Rose will be a special guest of the Indy Racing League and will participate in numerous activities at the track including giving the command for "Ladies and Gentleman" to start their engines. The field should have at least one female as Sarah Fisher will participate. In earlier testing Sarah lead time trials with a lap of 218 mph at the speedway.

"The Belterra Resort Indy 300" is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m.(EST) green flag and will be nationally televised on the ESPN network. Racing will begin Thursday afternoon as IRL and ARCA Bondo Mar-hyde teams begin practice. The ARCA division will be making its second appearance at the speedway for the running of "The Bluegrass Quality Meats 200". The 134 lap event will see a Saturday, August 26th, 2:30 p.m. (EST) green flag. On July 2nd the ARCA series drew 30,000 people at Kentucky Speedway™ a record stand alone event for the series.

"I am excited the IRL worked it out to have Pete Rose with us. I know the fans around the Cincinnati area will enjoy seeing him. We've got another great weekend of racing planned and we anticipate large crowds for both the Saturday and Sunday events" said Mark Cassis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Kentucky Speedway™.

Traffic and Parking have been vastly improved since the June 17th NASCAR® Truck Series™ event when three main lots were washed out due to heavy rains. 10,000 new contingency lot spaces, a new VIP lot, and a new RV/camping area have been added.

"Our last two events have encountered zero problems. Over 30,000 people came for the ARCA race and over 52,000 people for the concert - we've proved we can move traffic and park cars and we are ready to have the fans come out August 26th and August 27th", said Cassis.
