Homestead, FL: Rookie Felipe Giaffone drove his #21 Hollywood/G-Force/ Oldsmobile/Firestone entry to a fourth place finish for Treadway-Hubbard Racing in today's Infiniti Grand Prix of Miami. Giaffone in just his second INDY Racing League start was the highest starting and finishing rookie as well as the best finishing G-Force chassis.
"What a great race," said Giaffone. "The car was really good and then we had a little miscommunication that dropped us back to 12th or 14th. We were able to race back to the front as well as pick up a number of spots in the pits. The Treadway-Hubbard team did a great job and we had excellent race strategy. We ran over 90 laps on a single set of tires. My Firestone tires really helped us with this excellent finish. I'm just really happy for Hollywood and the whole team. We are off to a great start. Two months ago I couldn't have dreamed of a sixth and a fourth to start the season."
Giaffone is currently third in the season points championship and is leading the rookie of the year points standings after 2 of the 13 IRL races in 2001. Giaffone and team head to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for a private test Tuesday before returning for rookie orientation at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Friday and Saturday.
