Brack qualifies on the front row in California

Honda-powered Kenny Brack will start from the outside of the front row in Sunday's California Indy 400, with the Team Rahal driver posting the second-fastest speed in single-car qualifying at California Speedway outside of Los Angeles. It also marked the second time this season Brack has qualified on the front row, as the 1999 Indianapolis 500 winner also qualified second last month at Gateway International Raceway.

Andretti Green Racing teammates Dan Wheldon and Tony Kanaan were both top-five qualifiers Saturday. Kanaan continues in the thick of the chase for the IndyCar Series championship, and Wheldon battles fellow Honda-powered driver Roger Yasukawa for series Rookie of the Year honors. Yasukawa, who leads Wheldon by 10 points in the rookie battle, qualified 16th for Super Aguri Fernandez Racing.

Greg Ray and his Access Motorsports team continued to dial-in a brand new Panoz G-Force chassis, improving to 13th in qualifying. Bryan Herta qualified his backup car 14th after damaging his primary car in a crash during opening practice on Friday.

Kenny Brack (#15 Pioneer/Miller Lite Team Rahal Honda) 2nd fastest qualifier:

"The team did a fantastic job getting the car set up for qualifying, and we got everything out of it during the run. The Honda power was really there today. Although you can win from anywhere on the grid here, it's always good to start at the front. It's good for the team and gives us a much better chance of avoiding any problems that might take place early in the race. But starting on the front row doesn't guarantee us a good race result by any means. We still have to have a good car and run fast tomorrow."
