Bryan Herta on the California Indy 400:
"The XM Satellite Radio team has been strong on all the different tracks at different times during the year. Fontana is a lot like Michigan, but it isn't Michigan, so I think we'll have a good basic starting point, but we'll still have some work to do."
Bryan Herta Facts
Herta is in eighth place in the IndyCar Series points championship. He is nine points out of seventh place and can finish as high as fifth in the final standings.
Herta picked up a win earlier in 2005 at the only other 2-mile oval on the IndyCar Series slate. At the Firestone Indy 400 at Michigan International Speedway (July 31), Herta started on the pole, led 159 of 200 laps and earned his second career IndyCar Series win.
Herta's best finish at California Speedway was a 14th-place result in 1999.
Herta is one of only 22 drivers to win two or more races in IndyCar Series history.
Herta recorded a third-place finish at the 2005 Indianapolis 500, his best finish at the famed track.
Since his first IndyCar Series race in 2003, Herta has the fifth-most top-five finishes and the fifth-most top-10 results among all IndyCar Series drivers.
Herta is one of four drivers in 2005 to claim three pole positions. He took his first pole at Phoenix, the second at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and the third at Michigan.
Herta has four career major open-wheel racing wins and 10 poles.
Herta's first IndyCar Series victory came at Kansas Speedway in 2003.
For each race Herta wins during the 2005 season one fan will win $10,000 courtesy of XM Satellite Radio's Fast Cash promotion.
George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone on the California Indy 400:
"Obviously we have a great setup for a Michigan-like track, which Fontana is. The XM Satellite Radio team would like to move up a few spots in the championship and a race win would be a great way to finish the year on a strong note."
