Race distance: 200 laps (on the 1.5-mile oval), total of 300 miles. Firestone tires supplied this weekend: more than 850 (based on 8 sets per car for 26 cars). Tires for Texas: The Firestone Firehawks for this weekend at Texas include a mixture of proven compounds. The tires that will be used on the left side of each car are identical to the tires used on the left side of the cars during the June 9 event at TMS. The right-side tires feature a slightly harder compound than was used during the June 9 competition. This compound was used at the Aug. 12 event at Kentucky and the Sept. 2 event at Chicagoland. The harder compound will offer improved wear and durability.

Al Speyer, Bridgestone/Firestone Motorsports Director: "The one thing that you can predict about Texas is that you can't predict much with accuracy. It's always a shootout, with plenty of surprises and lots of two- and three-abreast racing leading up to an eventual winner. This is a phenomenal facility and one that is quite demanding of tires. We've never approached this track with complacency, and the tires we've brought for this weekend's competition are evidence of that. We're bringing a slightly harder compound for the right side of the cars, offering enhanced wear and durability characteristics. Since our first IRL race in 1996, we've continually sought improvements in our tires, giving these drivers a reliable foundation for their cars. We'll continue doing that, making sure every race is better than the last."
