FORT WORTH-DALLAS (June 2, 1999) - As race week approaches, Texas Motor Speedway is gearing up for both drivers and fans.
INDIANAPOLIS 500 LUNCHEON - Kenny Brack, winner of the 1999 Indianapolis 500, will be honored at a special luncheon in the Texas Grand Ballroom at The Speedway Club at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, June 4. The Speedway Club members, media, and special guests will be present as Brack discusses his Indy 500 win and his expectations of the upcoming Longhorn 500 Presented by MCI WorldCom. Brack, who drives the #14 A.J. Foyt Power Team Racing Dallara/Aurora, was the 1998 Pep Boys Indy Racing League champion and set a league record of three consecutive victories at Lowe's , Pikes Peak, and Atlanta. Brack's car owner, A.J. Foyt, is a four-time Indy 500 winner and a Houston resident. The Speedway Club members should call (817) 215-8405 for reservations.
SPEEDWAY CHILDREN'S CHARITIES 1999 SPECTACULAR GALA - Top Pep Boys Indy Racing League driver will be guests and entertainers at the 1999 Spectacular gala, One Starry Southern Night on Wednesday, June 9. Scheduled to appear include 1999 Indy 500 winner Kenny Brack, defending Longhorn 500 champion Billy Boat, Texas natives Greg Ray and John Hollansworth, 1998 Indy 500 winner Eddie Cheever, drivers Sam Schmidt, Davey Hamilton, and Scott Goodyear and IRL Legend Johnny Rutherford. The event will take place in the ballroom of The Speedway Club and will feature live entertainment from the Pep Boys Indy Racing League, a brief live auction, and an extensive silent auction. CAMPING AVAILABLE - Campers coming out for race weekend have a variety of camping options. Individual camping spaces, located outside Turn Three, are available for $30 for the weekend on a first-come, first-serve basis. For race enthusiasts who want a reserved space, a VIP Reserved Camping area is located adjacent to the Village of Champions just outside the South Tunnel. Campers will receive a reserved spot along with 24-hour security, a prime location near both the main grandstand and the showers and restrooms, one free water supply and waste stop per weekend, and daily delivery of The Dallas Morning News. The reserved camping spaces can be purchased for only $300 which includes the June and October race weekends.
Reserved infield RV spaces may also be purchased. For $200 for the weekend, campers may camp spend their time in the infield of the nation's second-largest sports facility. For additional camping information, please call (817) 215-8500.
