Kenny Brack has sustained serious, if not critical, injuries from a devastating crash at the Texas Motor Speedway in the closing laps of today's season finale for the IndyCar Series.

On lap 187 of the 200 scheduled laps, Brack and Tomas Scheckter made contact on the back straight, sending Brack into the air nose first, and then into the catch fencing in turn three.

The IRL safety team and track medical team removed the Team Rahal driver from the cockpit. Brack was reported as awake in the infield medical center before being airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Update: 6:32pm from on-site staff reporters.

Brack is reported by the Indy Racing League as being awake and alert. He is listed in serious but stable condition. He has sustained a concussion and multiple fractures to his extremities.

Motorsport.com will have updates as they become available.
