Joliet, IL (September 10, 2004)---Today was the opening practice sessions for the Delphi Indy 300 that will be held on Sunday at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway. Scott Sharp, driver of the No. 8 Delphi entry, was the fastest in the first group of the afternoon practice session with a top speed of 213.803 mph and ended up 12th fastest on the day. Practice will continue tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. with qualifying set to follow at 11:00 a.m. Sunday's race is set for a 12:30 p.m. green flag and will be televised live on ABC.

Scott Sharp, No. 8 Delphi/Dallara/Toyota/Firestone--- Quote

"The Delphi car is working quite well. We're trying to do a few things hoping that we can get a little more speed out of it but at the same time we're working with full fuel and our race set-up. We've basically been running right behind guys all day long and the car seems to handle very well in traffic. We're not expecting all the speed in the world for qualifying but if we can stay glued to the other guys rear wings during the race I think we'll be in good shape on Sunday."
