"The car is pretty good but we're looking to get a bit more speed out of it right now. There's a tail wind on the back stretch and the bump will make it a bit tricky for qualifying. There is a bit more work to be done on our qualifying set up but if practice is any indication, where you saw how the cars are running very closely and side by side, the race at Chicagoland is going to live up to it's reputation for delivering an exciting race for both drivers and fans.""

On Thursday's IROC race in Richmond where he finished in ninth place:

"At the start the car was pretty good; just a bit of understeer. Then towards the end, there was just a lot of understeer and I couldn't hold it down. They called a yellow at some stage and there was no yellow and I lifted, and J.J. (Yeley) went by me and Helio (Castroneves) a few laps later. I don't know what was going on there. It was fun though."

Darren Manning

"As soon as we got out there, the no.10 Toyota /Panoz G Force was very quick and competitive. We spent most of the time running on our own out there and the my times seemed pretty competitive so I know we'll have a good race car. The Chicagoland track is not quite identical to Kansas but it certainly is fun to drive and should be great competitive race out there this weekend."

On Target Chip Ganassi Racing picking up the option on his contract for the 2005 IndyCar season:

"I'm thrilled to be returning with the Target team for the 2005 season. Coming to a championship team and a class organization with a legacy for winning was an opportunity not many drivers get to have, but Chip Ganassi and the Target team gave me that chance to prove myself. It's given me a level of confidence and stability that I've never known and that I can truly appreciate. The team shared their vast and invaluable experience with me, provided a competitive car ever race weekend, and together we have had some measure of success. This past season was an incredible learning experience and I'm excited to be given the chance to continue to build on the relationships I have forged here because I truly believe that is a very important ingredient in the recipe for future success. Having Scott Dixon, the 2003 IndyCar series Champion, as a teammate has been valuable as well. We work really well together on and off the track and I'm looking forward to this Target team competing for top honors in the IndyCar series next season."
