FT. WORTH, Tex. (Sept. 13, 2002) - Robby McGehee, winner of the 1999 Indy 500 rookie of the year title, joins fellow American drivers Eddie Cheever Jr. and Buddy Rice at Red Bull Cheever Racing for this weekend's Chevy 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

"I think this will be the best opportunity I've had in an Indy car to win a race," McGehee said. "The Infiniti has great power, and the Red Bull Cheever Racing team works hard to make their cars fast. I am really excited to be a part of this program. I want to thank Eddie and the entire team for this opportunity."

Said team owner and driver Eddie Cheever Jr.: "An opportunity came up to run Robbie. Since this is the last race for this equipment, I am glad to give a driver of his caliber a ride for this weekend's race. I will be equally happy if any of the three Red Bull cars win on Sunday."

McGehee, 29, will drive the No. 53 Red Bull Cheever Racing Infiniti in the season finale at Texas Motor Speedway on Sept. 15. The car will feature the familiar Red Bull paint scheme found on the No. 51 car driven by Cheever, and the No. 52 car of Rice. All three Dallara chassis will be powered by the Infiniti Indy V8 engine and use Firestone tires.
