1998 Indy 500 winner and Indy Racing League team owner, Eddie Cheever, Jr. is answering questions on the Indy Racing League website this week at www.indyracingleague.com.

Questions from all over the country are pouring in...and, well, leave it to Cheever, to not be shy with his answers.

On Al Unser Jr. possibly running in the IRL in 2000? " I agree having Al Jr in competing in the Indy Racing League would be very interesting indeed. I think he might be a bit shocked when he turns into the first corner at a mile and half speedway in a pack of ten cars all running flat out with little more than a foot from each other at over 210 mph. Oh and did I forget to mention that they will probably 2 abreast ! The Unser's are America's open wheel royal family, especially when it comes to Indy."

On "playing it safe" at 220mph. " I have been a racing driver for three quarters of my life. And I have found that one very simple rule has keep me safe. Always make sure that if you are passing somebody that if they decide to do something foolish position your car in a manner that they will get the worst of it. More often than not when I deviate from this rule I get in trouble. That was the beauty of racing with some body like Arie, it was just a game of courage, speed, and precision. No senseless, irresponsible blocking, just plain old fashioned racing. If you are going to be fined, get a good whack in. Grabbing somebody by the lapels and getting fine for it leaves a real bad taste."
