IRL ANNOUNCES ONE-YEAR EXTENSION WITH INDYCAR® SERIES CHASSIS MANUFACTURERS DALLARA, PANOZ
INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, Oct. 10, 2005 -- In its continuing effort to maximize competitive balance, the Indy Racing League announced a contract extension through 2006 with IRL IndyCar® Series chassis manufacturers Dallara and Panoz.
Both Dallara and Panoz have served as chassis manufacturers with the IndyCar Series since 1997 and their current three-year chassis suppliers' agreement was signed in 2003.
"We have seen an incredibly balanced level of racing the past few years in the IndyCar Series and look forward to even more of that in 2006," said Brian Barnhart, president and chief operating officer for the Indy Racing League. "Extending our current chassis program with Dallara and Panoz provides our teams maximum value for their investment."
The Indy Racing League is currently in the process of determining whether to permit modifications to the current IndyCar Series chassis for 2006.
Founded in 1972 near Parma, Italy, Dallara has an enviable record of success around the world, designing and manufacturing cars for a range of different motorsports series and formulas.
Panoz was founded in 1990 as G Force and is now owned by American company Elan Motorsport Technologies and is based out of Braselton, Ga.
