RACE #1 RESULTS (team, laps completed, best lap time) - Feb. 5 1) United States Auto Club, 97, 23.27 2) Target Chip Ganassi Racing - IRL, 97, 22.88 3) Team Purex Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, 96, 23.04 4) Herdez Bettenhausen, 96, 23.13 5) Target Chip Ganassi Racing - CART, 95, 23.56 6) Hemelgarn Racing, 93, 23.01 7) Mo Nunn Racing, 92, 23.35 8) Delphi, 91, 23.50 9) WCWO Wrestling, 89, 23.89 FASTEST LAP: Ganassi, 22.88 (Chris Oldham) RACE DURATION: 40 minutes PIT STOPS: Mandatory 3 stops per team

Notes: Although they started next to last, the strong USAC team jumped to the lead almost immediately at the start, followed by the Target Chip Ganassi Racing-IRL team and Team Purex Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. Herdez got into fourth and was hunting down D & R, but couldn't quite do it thanks to about five black flags. The race ended like it started, with USAC, Ganassi and D & R running in that order from start to finish, earning them a "Shootout" berth. The Delphi team was new this week, and because they had not participated before, they were placed at the tail of the field for the start. But don't look for them to stay there, as they may be calling in their secret weapon for next week, driver of the IRL Delphi-sponsored car, Scott Sharp.

RACE #2 RESULTS (team, laps completed, best lap time) - Feb. 5 1) Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 99, 22.84 2) Pennzoil Panther Racing, 99, 22.67 3) C & R Racing, 99, 23.10 4) Indianapolis Motor Speedway Engineering, 98, 22.78 5) Bettenhausen Motorsports, 98, 23.03 6) IUPUI / NAMARS Formula Lightning, 97, 23.38 7) Team Cheever, 96, 23.15 8) AmSpeed, 93, 22.99 FASTEST LAP: Panther, 22.67 (A.J. Codalata) RACE DURATION: 40 minutes PIT STOPS: Mandatory 3 stops per team

Notes: Because of the IRL's "Test In The West" held later this week, the Pennzoil Panther Team and Team Cheever elected to not participate this week. But there has been so much enthusiasm for this karting league that there were several "volunteers" ready and available to form substitute teams for the missing groups, so both of the above named teams had a conglomeration of bystanders and teammembers from other teams filling in for them (allowing the teams to earn at least one point for participation) - see the team participant list for specifics. Team Cheever started second, due to Panther not showing up, but quickly fell back. Panther subbed a team later, but because it was so late and the lineups had already been posted, they had to tag the field, although that didn't seem to matter - they were on a roll, and had made it into second by lap 25. Of course, there was an interesting rivalry inherent in the fact that both teams entered by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway were in the same race, and they both sped to the front of the field, battling most of the race until the IMS Engineering team got into black flag trouble and fell out of a "Shootout" qualifying position with about 10 minutes to go. The C & R team was also near the front the whole time, earning a "Shootout" berth after a strong run.

SHOOTOUT RESULTS ** Top-three teams in each individual race got to enter one kart for a 10-lap shootout. Karts were lined up by best lap time, with the exception of the front row which was comprised of the individual race winners. The way the karts finished was the way the first-six positions in the combined results were determined, with 7 points being given for a 1st-place finish, 6 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 4 for 4th, 3 for 5th and 2 for 6th, allowing any team which made the "Shootout" at least a bonus point. Every other team which did not make it into the "Shootout" received one point.

COMBINED RESULTS (points, laps completed in individual race, how many laps down to leader, best lap time) - Monday, Feb. 5 (combined final results, after two separate 40-minute races - finishing order for positions 7-16 determined by number of laps finished in their particular race first - or more accurately how many laps down to the leader - then finishing positions, then lap times.
