ROCKWALL, TX -- February 14, 2000 -- TeamXtreme General Manager, John Lopes released a statement today regarding the death of open wheel racer and car owner Tony Bettenhausen Jr.,

"On behalf of the owners and all members of the TeamXtreme family we want to send our prayers and condolences to the Bettenhausen family. We especially are praying for Gary (Tony's older brother) as he has meant so much to our team."

Additional sentiments were issued by John Hollansworth Jr., driver of the # 42 Lycos G-Force, "I spent a lot of time with Gary last year prior to the 500 and wanted to let him know the entire Hollansworth family was keeping him in our prayers. We also wanted to express our condolences to the family of Jim McElreath of Arlington (TX) as his daughter, Shirley (McElreath) Bettenhausen was also lost in the crash."

Gary Bettenhausen was a special advisor to Hollansworth and TeamXtreme for the entire month of May (99) and the 83rd running of the Indianapolis 500.
