Treadway suffers engine failure to ginish 22nd

Fontana, CA: Rick Treadway finished 22nd in the Yamaha Indy 400 from the California Speedway after losing an engine cylinder on lap 181 in his Airlink Enterprises/Spade Motorsports entry for Treadway Racing.

"We came here to learn and prepare for Indy and we accomplished those objectives," said Treadway. "We wanted to get in five or six good pit stops and we did that. It's just a real honor to be driving the #55 Airlink Enterprises car in the Indy Racing League. We lost the weight jacker during the race so I didn't have any handling adjustments in the middle of the race. At the end we picked up a spot in the pits and then I got good run on the #11 car for another position when I lost power. I had the pedal to the medal but it just wouldn't pull."

Treadway is now 18th in the overall points standings. The next race is the Firestone Indy 225 from the Nazareth Speedway on April 21,2002.
