Buddy Lazier will start 26th in the Yamaha Indy 400 today after he was forced to move to his backup car due to a crash in the final practice this morning at California Speedway.

Lazier will start just ahead of Memo Gidley, who remains last on the 27-car grid after substituting for Robbie Buhl, who suffered a concussion in a crash Saturday.

2000 Indy Racing League champion Lazier was unhurt and cleared to drive after the crash in Turn 2. Lazier's No. 91 Coors Light Life Fitness Tae-Bo Delta Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone suffered substantial right-side damage when it hit the outside retaining wall.

Lazier, who qualified sixth, was the fastest driver during the session at 32.5292 seconds, 221.340 mph.

The Yamaha Indy 400 starts at 3:30 p.m. (EST) and will be televised live on ESPN.
