As part of Jackson Race Week Festival 2003, downtown Jackson will host Cruise Night this evening from 5:00 TO 9:00 p.m. Festivities will take place in Michigan Avenue between Jackson and Mechanic. The Indy Racing Experience will also be on site with interactive activities for the entire family. A fireworks display is scheduled for dusk.

Three drivers competing in Sunday's Firestone Indy 400 have earned victories on the 2-mile super speedway. Al Unser Jr. won in 1990 and Tony Kanaan in 1999, while Tomas Scheckter won in the Indy Racing Leagues first appearance in the Irish Hills in 2002.

Ross Fonferko will once again drive the No. 6 Sam Schmidt Motorsports entry in the Infiniti Pro Series. Fonferko, who made his debut in the series with a third place finish at Nashville two weeks ago, missed today's first practice session. Fonferko is the manager at an Applebee's restaurant and he was scheduled to close the establishment on Thursday night. Fonferko worked until well past 1:00 a.m. on Thursday night forcing him to miss one practice session in his race car.

IndyCar Series practice was finished by 3:00 p.m. allowing Sarah Fisher to conduct a special Car Care Badge workshop for Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts from the Girl Scouts Irish Hills Council. The hour-long workshop was held as part of the festivities in downtown Jackson.

Michigan International Speedway offers fans a special opportunity to attend the races in style. The speedway's Legend's Club offers fans a general admission ticket for Friday and reserved seats for both Saturday and Sunday. Other perks include a pre-race pit pass, paddock parking pass, a souvenir program and hospitality tent access with catered breakfast and lunch.
