In celebration of the world's most famous horror film characters and the upcoming Halloween season, Action Performance and Universal Studios Consumer Products Group have enlisted drivers from the Indy Racing Series, NASCAR's Winston Cup and Busch circuits, and NHRA, to sport specially designed Monsters' paint schemes at select races this October.

The paint scheme for the Galles ECR Tickets.com Starz Encore Superpak car, driven by Al Unser Jr., has been dramatically altered to carry a Dracula motif for the Northern Light Indy Racing Series season finale, the Excite 500, on October 15 at Texas Motor Speedway.

"Classic characters like, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man and The Mummy have been a part of the American culture for decades, especially during the Halloween season. Teaming them up with the top drivers in American motorsports is something in which Action is proud to participate," said Fred. W. Wagenhals, Action chairman, president and CEO. "The unique Monsters collectibles and apparel Action has produced for this event are a fun way for collectors and race fans to get into the Halloween spirit."

"Universal is very proud of our classic Monsters legacy, which dates back to the 1930's," said Elliot Lederman, vice president of licensing and motorsports, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. "The 'Monsters of the Speedway' program will reach race fans of all ages who will enjoy seeing the Monsters 'scare' the competition."

In honor of the "Monsters of the Speedway" program, Action Performance is offering die-cast replicas and related merchandise showcasing the teams and their respective Universal Studios Monsters.

In addition to the variety of channels through which Action Performance sells its merchandise, race fans can purchase Al Unser Jr.'s Dracula-themed die-cast collectibles at the Action Performance merchandise trailer at Texas Motor Speedway during the Excite 500.

Galles ECR Racing car owner, Rick Galles, is enthusiastic about the promotion. "Action is the leader in the distribution of licensed motorsports merchandise, and we are extremely proud to have been chosen to participate in this promotion. This is the first time that a team from the Northern Light Indy Racing Series has been selected for a 'specials' promotion with Action Performance. I think this says a lot about the commitment that the Indy Racing Series has made towards marketing and merchandising," said Galles.

Galles ECR Racing Driver, Al Unser Jr., is looking forward to racing with Dracula in Texas. "Our entire team is honored to have been chosen by Universal Studios and Action Performance as the open-wheel representative in their 'Monsters of the Speedway' promotion.

"In the spirit of Dracula, we are looking forward to getting our teeth into the opposition," said Unser.
