3. Fans Invited To "Breakfast With Michael Andretti":
1. Indy Racing League Gears Up For Milwaukee Open Test: The IRL IndyCar® Series and IRL Menards Infiniti Pro Series teams will take part in an Open Test at The Milwaukee Mile.
Both series are competing at the facility -- which opened in 1903 -- for the first time, with races scheduled for July 25.
Menards Infiniti Pro Series drivers will take to the track on June 15, with the IndyCar Series having two days of on-track activity. An announcement involving the IndyCar Series race sponsor will be made Wednesday.
The Milwaukee Mile began upgrades and improvements in 2002 with the replacement of 20,000 bleacher seats in the north and south terrace. In 2003, a new center grandstand area with 25,000 seats with improved sightlines, new restrooms, concession areas and other fan-friendly amenities were constructed.
Improvements to structures in the infield will be completed in time for the Indy Racing League's visit, including an expansion of the paddock area to allow pass holders up-close access to the action.
2. Rice nominated for Driver of the Quarter: Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Rice is one of eight drivers nominated for the second quarter of 2004 for the Speed Channel Driver of the Year award.
Rice, is the only open-wheel driver, nominated for the Driver Of The Year Award for second quarter of 2004. The award will be determined by an independent vote of the 18-member panel of auto racing journalists and broadcasters and one vote based on the cumulative tally of fans' voting at www.speedtv.com.
Other nominees include: Greg Anderson (NHRA), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (NASCAR), John Force (NHRA), Jeff Gordon (NASCAR), Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR), Steve Kinser (World of Outlaws) and Martin Truex Jr. (NASCAR).
3. Fans invited to "Breakfast with Michael Andretti": The Michael Andretti Foundation will once again be hosting the "Breakfast with Michael Andretti" program, an opportunity for fans to be a VIP for the morning and get an inside look at the activities that take place at IRL events with Andretti Green Racing (AGR).
This unique opportunity is being offered to fans at three locations on the 2004 IRL IndyCar Series schedule; Nashville, Tenn. on July 16th, Milwaukee on July 23 and Nazareth on Aug. 27.
The activities will be held on Friday mornings in all locations with times varying from track to track. All participants will be issued a special VIP pass for that morning that will get them access into the tour areas. Only those who purchase the standard credentials from the track will be permitted to remain in the track area past the conclusion of the tour. Cost for each event is $100 per person and space is limited to 60 fans in each market on a first-come basis.
As part of the "Breakfast with the Michael Andretti" program, the participants will be able to start the day off with a full-service breakfast served at the Team 7-Eleven hospitality area by the Andretti Green Racing chefs. Then, the activities will continue with a "question & answer" session with AGR owner Michael Andretti, followed by an autograph for each guest. Guests will then be able to sit back and get the inside information on the track and the series from an educated track-talk speaker, followed by a car tour where the participants can get up close with the Andretti Green Racing IndyCar Series cars.
All participants of the breakfast will get $5 off each race ticket for the Nashville and Milwaukee races. Nazareth is offering breakfast participants a deeply discounted price of $11 off each Sunday race ticket. Specific details will be included in participant's information.
All proceeds from the fundraisers will be donated to the Michael Andretti Foundation. Fans can secure a spot at the event by sending an e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org or by contacting 610-248-9111.
The 2004 IRL IndyCar Series season continues with the SunTrust Indy Challenge at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) on June 26 at Richmond International Raceway.
