Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Off To A Good Start For Practice In Toronto
Today was a good start to the weekend for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing as they had strong runs in both practice sessions for the Honda Indy Toronto. It turned out to be a very successful day for DRR pilots Justin Wilson (No. 22 Z-Line Designs), and Ana Beatriz (No. 24 Ipiranga) as they ran in the top- 10 for most of the day.
Englishman, Justin Wilson showed his speed right off the bat. He quickly proved that he knows the Toronto circuit like the back of his hand. This will be his seventh year at the 1.75-mile temporary street circuit. Wilson competed in four Champ Car races at the track from 2004 to 2007. He won his first Champ Car race in 2005 at Toronto and led 10 laps after starting third. In 2006, he won the pole, led 10 laps and finished fourth. In 2009, as the IZOD IndyCar Series made the return to Toronto, he finished fifth after starting fourth. Last year, Wilson amazed the crowd as he not only set a track record, but earned his first IZOD IndyCar career pole. The veteran driver led for 32 laps, but unfortunately, a late race spin caused him to drop back to 12th position, but he diligently picked people off and would bring the Z-Line Designs machine home in 7th position. This year he seems to be on the same roll. Wilson was 4th (1:01.7324) quickest in the first session and 6th in the second session (1:01.0205).
Ana Beatriz had a good solid day in practice. This weekend the Brazilian will be making her second appearance to Toronto, but her first in the top level of the sport. In 2009, she made her first start at Toronto in the Firestone Indy Lights Series where she started 7th and finished 13th. She is fully prepared for her second visit to the Toronto circuit. Laps and time were exactly what the rookie needed. Beatriz was 25th (1:03.7243) fastest in the first session and 25th (1:02.9486) quickest in the second session.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track for the Honda Indy Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on July 10th. The race telecast will air live on Sunday, July 10th at 2:00 pm (ET) on VERSUS. The race will air live on the IMS Radio Network, XM channel 94, and Sirius channel 212. For more updates on the team, please visit www.dreyerreinboldracing.com.
What they have to say about the Honda Indy Toronto...
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Z-Line Designs:"I think that it has been a pretty good day. We seem fairly competitive and the car is very similar to last year, so I'm happy. We are making progress, but the downside is that everyone else is as well. The quickest time today is quicker than P3 in qualifying last year. It's going to be a strong pace and it's going to be a tight field and we've got to work hard at making it one of the best cars that we've ever had just to be competitive. I'm happy with the progress so far, but we can't relax."
Ana Beatriz, No. 24 Ipiranga: "We still need to improve a lot. I think that we made some changes that weren't very good and we went backwards. We put new tires on in the last stint and we did two laps but the temperature wasn't there yet so I couldn't get the grip that I wanted. I'm a little disappointed, but we must keep improving. We will have a night to sleep and think about it and tomorrow will be better."
