Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Qualified 11th And 26th For The Honda Indy Toronto
Today was filled with ups and downs for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in Toronto, Ontario, Canada today. The Indianapolis-based squad worked diligently to get the cars just right, but unfortunately things didn't go exactly to plan. Justin Wilson, pilot of the No. 22 Z-Line Designs machine, qualified 11th for the Honda Indy Toronto. His teammate, Ana Beatriz, pilot of the No.24 Ipiranga car, will start 26th for tomorrow's event.
Today's session didn't go the way Justin Wilson had hoped. The Brit diligently chipped away all weekend and had been fast for all of the sessions. He was working hard to make it into the Firestone Fast Six today and advanced to the Fast Twelve with ease. Unfortunately, in the second session his right rear tire was leaking, and as a result, he fought with balance issues with the No. 22 Z-Line Designs machine and did not advance to the Firestone Fast Six. Wilson will start 11th (59.9636s, 105.364 mph). At last year's Toronto race, Wilson started on the pole and finished in 7th place.
Ana Beatriz had a solid run in qualifying today. This weekend the Brazilian will be making her second appearance to Toronto, but her first in the top level of the sport. As she diligently worked to make it into the fast twelve, Bia was nudged out in the end. The rookie will start 26th (1:00.7917, 103.929 mph) on the grid for tomorrow's race. In 2009, she made her first start at Toronto in the Firestone Indy Lights Series where she started 7th and finished 13th.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track for the Honda Indy Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada tomorrow. The race telecast will air live on Sunday, July 10th at 2:00 pm (ET) on VERSUS. What they have to say about the Honda Indy Toronto...
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Z-Line Designs: "In the first qualifying session, the Z-Line Designs car was really good and we didn't change anything between that and the second session and we lost a lot of performance. At first I was really confused, but it turns out that we had a leaking right rear tire, which kind of explains a lot of things. Hopefully we can not have that again and be back up there as one of the quick cars and have a strong race tomorrow."
Ana Beatriz, No. 24 Ipiranga: "It was another tough day. We improved a lot, but it still wasn't enough to be in the mix. It's a very competitive field and we need to keep working hard. The goal for tomorrow is to have a great race car that we can compete in the race better and be consistent. Overall, I'm disappointed, but tomorrow is another day and I think that we will be strong."
