Bourdais Breaks Firestone Fast Twelve For Fourth Time
For the fourth consecutive race of his seven races this season, Sebastien Bourdais qualified into the Firestone Fast Twelve and second round of qualifying on Saturday. After today’s session at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Bourdais, driver of the #19 Boy Scouts of America car, will start 11th in Sunday’s running of the Honda Indy 200.
Testing at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course just over a week ago gave Bourdais a car he was very happy with. After the team made several changes to the car to try out in morning practice, they went back to the original set-up, which allowed Bourdais to reach as high as fifth during his Firestone Fast Twelve run.
Today’s Firestone Fast Twelve appearance marks the second consecutive week that Bourdais was able to secure his place on the last lap of the session.
“I feel good that we’re finally starting to get where I knew we could be all along,” said Bourdais. “The team confidence is high right now, and we’re looking to capitalize on another top-ten finish to go along with the others.
Rookie James Jakes, driver of the #18 Acorn Stairlifts car, ended yesterday’s practice in a weekend high 14th position. When the green flag drops tomorrow for the race, Jakes will be starting in 24th position.
