Driver Sebastian Saavedra qualified 24th for Sunday’s Indy 225 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He posted a combined two-lap average qualifying speed of 162.285 miles per hour on the 1.025-mile variably banked oval.

The Conquest Racing Bogota es Mundial pilot made good progress learning the track in his rookie appearance there. In Saturday’s morning practice, the 21-year-old Colombian improved nearly six miles per hour from his best lap in the weekend’s initial practice sessions. But, rubber left on the track from the modified series also racing at Loudon this weekend proved challenging for Saavedra and his fellow IndyCar drivers.

“It was a pretty tough day,” Saavedra said. “The track was very unpredictable and there was a lot of rubber in the second practice today from the modified cars. Everyone fought it a little bit.”

Saavedra said his car is better than the qualifying time indicates, and is looking for a good race result.

“We went into qualifying with a lot of confidence knowing what we could do,” he said. “There’s more speed in the car than we showed, so that leaves us in good position for tomorrow’s race.

We might not have the best qualifying car, but we do have a race car. We're very strong in traffic and passing so we are going to take advantage of that in the race and go for a good finish.”
