HM RACING'S EJ VISO BACK ON TRACK AT INDY
Indianapolis, IN (May 15, 2008) - HVM Racing and EJ Viso were back on track today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway after rain washed out several days of practice. Despite the mild temperatures (hovering around 60 degrees air temp.) and gusty winds, EJ turned a total of 85 laps, the fastest at 222.108 mph which was 12th quickest out of the 35 cars on track today.
The HVM Racing crew spent the past several days fine-tuning the primary car, and working on elements that they otherwise may have not had time for. With such a short amount of time to prepare for ROP following the Kansas race, the past few days have given the team a chance to divert their attention to build and prepare the spare car after an extremely strenuous schedule.
For EJ, the days on track should be spent relaxing and kicking his heels up, but the energetic Venezuelan would much rather be in the race car. To keep himself entertained during the inclement weather, he purchased a unicycle and has taught himself how to ride it. He may be seen riding through Gasoline Alley on one wheel when it is too rainy for four.
"Well, it was definitely good to be back in the car. We got lucky today with the weather I think; it was looking like it was going to rain all day, but it never did. The wind was a factor, but I still think we made some progress with the car. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have another productive day and continue to work on our qualifying and race set-ups. It's nice to be back at work, and I look forward to every day that we are here at the Speedway. Even though it's a long month, I'm really enjoying it."
Keith Wiggins, Team Owner:
"It's our first time here and everyone told us it's a full month at the Speedway. The goal is of course to run as much as possible the entire month, especially with a team and driver new to the circuit. That sounds like a good plan, but the weather hasn't allowed us to do that. It's challenging to get everyone up to speed with so few days running, nevertheless it's the same for all the rookies. Our goal is to be the top Champ Car team in the thick of such a competitive field. It's also good to see EJ learning new talents in case he needs to join the circus as an alternate career!"
