Indianapolis 500 or Indianapolis Grand Prix? Why not both.

Construction and ticket sales doing well at Indianapolis.

Tickets are selling in a hurry at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, for both its May races.

Starting with the Indianapolis Grand Prix road race at the 'Speedway, IMS President Doug Boles says that tickets are selling quickly, with the most popular seats being those in the oval's 4th turn, and the oval's 1st turn.

Tickets for this event went on sale Oct. 14.

“We had a very good first week and we’ve had steady interest since,” Boles told the Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ).

In addition to a strong first few weeks, IMS has experienced a spike in ticket sales for its marquee event, the Indianapolis 500. The track is giving discounts when purchasing tickets for both races, giving ten dollars off Indy 500 tickets with the purchase of Indianapolis Grand Prix tickets.

“We sold more tickets to the Indianapolis 500 in two days than we did during three weeks last year,” Boles said. “We feel like this is really going to energize the month of May at the Speedway.”

The track's construction is also moving along well, with paving completed this past week. According to the IBJ, Tony Kanaan is scheduled to turn laps in the next couple days in a Chevrolet Corvette.
