DREYER & REINBOLD RACING LOOKS FOR POSITIVE RESULTS AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY
Homestead, Florida (October 9, 2009)- After a season of ups and downs Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is prepared to end the last race of the season on a high. The Indianapolis based squad is rejuvenated and ready for the Firestone Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend. This will mark Dreyer & Reinbold Racing's ninth time to compete at the 1.5-mile oval, and piloting the team's cars will be Mike Conway who will drive the No. 24 Roll Coater machine, Tomas Scheckter who will get behind the wheel of the No. 43 MonaVie car, and Milka Duno who will be driving the No. 23 CITGO chassis.
The team tested last week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Tomas Scheckter. They were able to learn a number of things to help put them ahead of the game for this weekend. As a result, he is 100 percent prepared and ready to settle his unfinished business at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He will be making his sixth start at the track this weekend. In 2005 he started on pole driving for Panther Racing and his best finish was fifth in 2004. He has started and finished no worse than 11th in five starts at the track. The South African has nine starts for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing under his belt. He has had eight career pole positions, all of which were on ovals (2002-Texas 1,Kansas, Michigan; 2003-Texas 1, Michigan; 2005-Homestead, Texas, Nashville). He has also won twice, both on ovals (Michigan, 2002; Texas, 2005). His best result this season was sixth at Iowa. He also finished an eighth place at Chicagoland Speedway making it his second top-10 finish this season.
Mike Conway will be making his debut appearance at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend. The 26-year-old tested at the track at the beginning of the season, marking his first time to drive on an oval. To date, he has made it into the Firestone Fast Six twice on road courses (Watkins Glen and Toronto) and his best qualifying position on an oval has been 11th (Milwaukee and Richmond). Conway's best results on a road course were sixth and third (Watkins Glen and Sonoma) and on an oval was eighth in Iowa.
Milka Duno, who will be driving the No. 23 CITGO machine, will make her second appearance at Homestead-Miami Speedway. She finished 20th in her first start at track in 2008 after starting 16th. After a two week break, the Miami-resident is ready to put on a great show and bring home a strong result.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track for the Firestone Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 10th. The race will be telecast live in HD at 4 p.m. (ET) October 10th by VERSUS. The race will air live on the IMS Radio Network, XM channel 145 and Sirius channel 211. The radio broadcast also will be carried on www.indycar.com.
What they have to say--
Mike Conway, No. 24 Roll Coater: "I'm really looking forward to Miami. We did a three day test down there at the beginning of the year and that was my first oval experience. The test went well for us and we were in the top ten fastest times there, so I'm looking forward to getting back. The team has been working really hard and they had a test at Indy so I think we are in good shape. I can't wait to get out there again and finish my last race of the season.
Tomas Scheckter, No. 43 MonaVie: "I look forward to finishing off the last race of the season at Miami. I've had some good luck there with a couple of top ten and top five results. We had a really good test at Indy so we have learned some stuff and can bring that to Miami. I think all three of us will have a good showing and I can't wait to see all of the Mona Vie people down there."
Milka Duno, No. 23 CITGO: "I feel good about racing at Homestead because it's like my home track. This will be my second start here with IndyCar and it will be a very intense weekend because it will be a short weekend since we will only be on track Friday and Saturday. Like always we are going to work hard on having the best results that we can this weekend."
