Gutierrez cleared to race at Toronto
Dale Coyne Racing’s Esteban Gutierrez has been cleared to drive in today’s Honda Indy Toronto after being reassessed following his shunt in qualifying yesterday.
Although the former F1 driver was checked and released yesterday, he was not initially cleared to drive, and would need to be reassessed today, raceday.
However, an IndyCar press release, half an hour before warm-up, stated: “Dale Coyne Racing driver Esteban Gutierrez was re-evaluated by IndyCar medical director Dr. Michael Olinger this morning after experiencing concussion-like symptoms Saturday following a crash in Honda Indy Toronto qualifying.
“Gutierrez has been cleared to drive.”
Coyne have built up their spare tub, as raced by James Davison at the Indianapolis 500 this year.
