SARAH FISHER NOMINATED FOR INDY'S BEST & BRIGHTEST UNDER 40 AWARD
Sarah Fisher Racing Announces Fisher one of 10 finalists in industry specific category; Fisher first athlete to be honored; 100 total finalists across 10 categories; Winners announced September 25
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (Sep 24, 2008) IndyCar Series driver and owner of Sarah Fisher Racing, Sarah Fisher, is a finalist for the fifth annual Indy's Best & Brightest under 40 Awards with proceeds benefiting Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, Inc. Indy's Best & Brightest recognizes up and coming professionals in Indianapolis-across 10 industry categories with Fisher nominated in the Media, Entertainment & Sports category.
"I'm thrilled to be a finalist for Indy's Best and Brightest," said Fisher, who turns 28 next month. "I started Sarah Fisher Racing in January 2008 and it has been an uphill battle that has been both challenging and motivating. I couldn't have done it without everyone from my team who has been alongside me all the way to qualifying for the Indianapolis 500, probably our greatest achievement to date. Again, I'm thankful and honored to be recognized by Junior Achievement."
The Best and Brightest initiative was created by Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, Inc. to recognize up and coming talent and the next generation of leaders in the Indianapolis community and is supported by KPMG, LLP. Finalists in each category are judged on professional accomplishments and leadership qualities. Carl Brizzi, Marion County Prosecutor and a 2004 Best & Brightest Winner, will serve as Chairman of this year's event. Gerry Dick, host of WFYI's "Inside INdiana Business," will serve as emcee for the fifth year.
Fisher will attend the 2008 Indy's Best and Brightest awards luncheon, which will be held on September 25, 2008, at the Gene B. Glick Jr. Achievement Education Center (7435 N. Keystone Avenue). All 100 finalists will receive an award at the event, and one winner in each category will be announced. The 10 winners receive significant benefits including enrollment into the Lacy Leadership Association's LEAD program, and this year's winner's circle will be the first class to benefit from a new partnership with the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee (GIPC).
