Meira Finishes 17th on Speed Chart for First Day Practice

LEXINGTON, Ohio -- (July 24, 2008) -- Panther Racing and Delphi National Guard driver Vitor Meira made their debut today on the temporary circuit at the Edmonton City Centre Airport in preparations for this Sunday's IndyCar Series event. This weekend will mark the first time the series, and Panther Racing, have raced in Canada.

The Rexall Edmonton Indy will be held at the Edmonton City Centre Airport on Saturday, July 26th. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN at 5 p.m. (ET) with additional coverage provided by the IMS Radio Network and XM Satellite Radio Channels 144 and 145.

Vitor Meira:

"We're heading in the right direction. Especially late in the practice session, we kept making gains and making gains. So we'll do the work we need to do tonight to be even better tomorrow. We're not far off. I'm just pushing a lot in the slow speed corners and that is hurting our times. I'm excited to see what kind of speed we have with new tires, because with all the yellows today it was hard to get a lot of clean laps."
