Successful Two-Day Test for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing at Barber Motorsports Park
Birmingham, AL (February 25, 2010) - Dreyer & Reinbold Racing completed a successful two-days of testing at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama today. Despite the cold weather conditions the team's drivers, Justin Wilson (No. 22 Z-Line Designs) and Mike Conway (No. 24 Dad's Root Beer), logged in a number of miles around the 2.3 mile road course.
Lap time was exactly what the doctor ordered for Conway. Yesterday the Englishman struggled to find the right balance on the car, but that was quickly remedied. It turned out to be a very productive day for Conway as he completed a total of 83 laps, clocking the sixth fastest time of the day with 1:10.2497. Unfortunately, his day was ended a bit prematurely as he made contact in turn nine. Luckily, the car wasn't badly damaged and it will go back to the team's Indianapolis-based headquarters to prepare for the season opener in Brazil.
As for Conway's teammate Wilson, today was just what he needed as well. Additional track time for the Englishman allowed him to gel more with is No. 22 Z-Line Designs crew and engineer. Wilson learned a number of things and as a result he ran a total of 77 laps and ended the final session with the seventh quickest time of 1:10.7397.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will head to Sebring International Raceway with Ana Beatriz for two more days of testing. Once the test is completed, DRR will head back to its Indianapolis-based headquarters to put the final touches on the car for the IZOD IndyCar Series opener in Brazil on March 14th. What they had to say....
Justin Wilson, No. 22 Z-Line Designs: "The test went quite well. We were quick early on and we just continued to work through a few changes. Right at the end of the day we set our quickest lap, which was on the end lap, and finally I got what I was looking for. It's a shame that the lap times aren't shown on the results sheet, but we ended up pretty quick and I am pleased. I'm looking forward to our next test and then onto Brazil."
Mike Conway, No. 24 Dad's Root Beer: "Today was a lot more enjoyable day. We had a lot more comfortable car. We learned a lot from some things that we tried and from Justin and as a result we came away with a proper setup. We just need to keep working on it and I think we are in a good position when we come back to race."
