Dixon on top for third IndyCar practice at NOLA
Ganassi has led two of the three practice sessions this weekend.
Ganassi and Penske are on top of the timesheets again in the final practice session but behind them is when it gets very interesting.
Scott Dixon powered his car to P1 with a fastest lap of the weekend of 1:18.5538, averaging just north of 125mph.
Simon Pagenaud was second, but third place was a big surprise in Bryan Herta Autosport’s Gabby Chaves. Chaves turned the fastest lap for a Honda driver this weekend with a lap just over a tenth and a half slower than Dixon’s best.
Will Power was fourth and Sage Karam fifth for Penske and Ganassi. Carlos Munoz, Josef Newgarden, Tony Kanaan, Charlie Kimball and Sebatien Bourdais completed the top ten.
Out of all 24 drivers taking part in the race weekend, 23 of them bettered their best time from Friday. James Jakes was the only driver to have his best lap come on Friday with a 1:20.1132 while his best lap today was a 1:20.1590.
