Baltimore, MD - August 1, 2012 - Alex Tagliani and his Barracuda Racing team will start P14 for Sunday's Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT.
The second annual race weekend on the streets of Baltimore was unusual, including track reconfiguration and practice in the rain. Tagliani was in the first group for the qualifying session on Saturday afternoon. The team waited until approximately halfway through the 15-minute session before sending the No. 98 car out.
Tagliani slowed down to make a gap, and hadn't even started his qualifying lap when another car made contact with the wall, bringing out a local yellow and then a red. With only minutes left on the qualifying clock, there wasn't sufficient time to clear the track and get the first group back out.
As a result, Tagliani was eight in the session, placing him P14 in the starting lineup.
"I didn't even get to run a qualifying lap," said Tagliani. "The situation is out of our control but it's still frustrating. The Barracuda Racing crew worked very hard this weekend and I'm hoping we'll get a chance to show the results of their efforts in the race tomorrow."
