Toronto, Ont., July 15, 2001 - Walker Racing rookie driver Tora Takagi started and finished the Molson Indy at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario in 22nd position on Sunday. Tora had moved as high as 17th in the #5 Pioneer/DENSO Special before being involved in an accident on Lap 46, which ended his day early.

"The guys gave me a very competitive car from the very start of the race," said Tora. "Thanks to them I had good feelings about the day. Unfortunately, during the race I was only able to overtake other cars in Turn 3, and had contact with another car there that put us out of the race."

The Molson Indy was run on the 1.755-mile temporary street circuit before a record-setting crowd of 73,000 plus fans, who were treated to an event-filled race that included 11 caution periods for 31 of the 95 total laps.

"We had started to develop a pretty good strategy which as the race ended up would have played right into our hands," said owner Derrick Walker. "Our team is really trying very hard, Tora included. He was driving too hard at Toronto, and unfortunately he got caught up with other competitors. It's too bad really -- we could have had a good event."

Round 11 of the CART FedEx Championship Series will take place at Michigan Speedway on July 22. The Michigan 500 presented by Toyota will be broadcast live on ABC at 1:30 p.m. (ET).
