GIL DE FERRAN # 5 VALVOLINE/CUMMINS - HONDA/REYNARD/GOODYEAR

RACE WEEKEND REVIEW: MILWAUKEE

Started 16th , finished 3rd , seventh in PPG standings - 50 points.

What: MILLER LITE 225 Round seven of the 20-races FedEx Championship Series for the PPG Cup.

Gil de Ferran had one of his best runs of the season, the strongest run of the 225-lap race, driving an aggressive and intelligent race. Starting 16th and charging to third, de Ferran actually had a good shot at winning before that final yellow.

Gil de Ferran: "It was quite a day. Everyone was sliding around, four-wheel drifting. But my Goodyear tires were consistent all day and I was able to run harder at the end of each stint. Plus every time I stopped, my guys got me positions. I was watching the other guys and said 'they cannot last, they are using up their tires. I was in a position to win and then the yellow light came out right after we finished a splash-and-go. So I suppose third isn't too bad, but we were in a position to win. We will take this as a sign of better things to come. We needed this after last week."

Derrick Walker: Team owner: "Milwaukee race, although only third place the whole team performed like it won the race. There was nothing else we could have done differently or better that could have influenced the outcome. This was a great finish to work our way from 16th to 3rd. Pit work was exceptional and we deserved every bit of our third place. This should help us regain some momentum going forward to Portland."
