VISA U.S.A., the world's premier payment system, its marketing partners the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, Inc. and Laguna Seca Raceway – and Championship Auto Racing Teams, Inc. (CART), announced today, the "VISA Platinum Challenge". VISA will pay a $250,000 prize on a VISA Platinum credit card to a CART Champ Car driver who captures: 1. The pole position in any two of three FedEx Championship races at the:

+ Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, April 5, 1998; + Motorola 300 at Gateway Int'l Raceway, May 23, 1998; + Honda Grand Prix of Monterey, September 13, 1998; 2. And, victories at any two of the three FedEx Championship Series races listed above. "We think Champ Car drivers are the highest skilled drivers in the world.
