JACKSON, MI - - JANUARY 10, 2001 - - Patrick Racing completed the first of three days of testing yesterday, January 9, on the road course in Sebring, Florida.

Jimmy Vasser, who is in his first season with Patrick Racing, ran a total of 185 miles and notched the fastest time of the cars running yesterday with a quick lap of 51.2.

"It was a good test. I am very pleased," Vasser said. "It was only a one day test for me, but I was able to ran as fast as I did the last time we were here even though the conditions were much colder this time. I am very happy with the way the Patrick Racing team is progressing with our pre-season testing program. We are preparing for a war because that is what this season is going to be like. "

Patrick Racing General Manager Jim McGee was equally pleased with the results of the test saying, "We had a good test. The conditions were very cold, but we still ended up the fastest of the day. We worked through a lot of things and the Toyota engine and Reynard chassis ran great. We were also able to do a long run on the Firestone tires and got a lot of good data from that. Overall, I think it was a very productive test."

The three-day Sebring test is the fourth for Patrick Racing in preparation for the 2001 FedEx Championship Series season. The team will run again today, Wednesday, January 10 and tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, with Roberto Moreno behind the wheel of the Visteon/Patrick Racing Toyota Reynard.
