Team Kool Green Drivers to start second and third in Vancouver
Vancouver, British Columbia - Team KOOL Green driver Paul Tracy thought he had just enough left in him in the final minute of Saturday's Molson Indy Vancouver qualifying session to snatch the pole away from Cristiano da Matta and walk away with both his second point of the weekend and the coveted Greg Moore Pole Award. But while Tracy had big plans, by his own admission his ambition may have cost him valuable tenths of seconds, and despite his valiant last minute run for the pole, the Canadian driver and crowd favorite will start second to da Matta in Sunday's Molson Indy Vancouver race. Tracy's teammate Dario Franchitti will start third.
Franchitti, who had been quick all weekend, posted his fast lap early in the qualifying session but was unable to defend his own track qualifying record. Although the Scot pushed his KOOL-Honda-Lola- Bridgestone to the limit, da Matta was able to better Franchitti's record of 1:00.405 seconds (106.144 mph) and earned the new track record with a lap of 1:00.339 seconds (106.260 mph). Tracy who earned the provisional pole on Friday, recorded a best lap of 1:00.502 seconds (105.973 mph) while Franchitti clocked in at 1:00.990 seconds (105.874 mph).
Tomorrow's CART FedEx Champ Car schedule starts off with warm up 9:30 a.m. PDT and will be followed by the race at 1:30 p.m. Speed Channel will broadcast the race live beginning at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
Paul Tracy - #26 KOOL Honda-Lola-Bridgestone
"I'm a little bit disappointed in myself, I was trying hard, maybe a little bit too hard and I was clobbering the curbs quite a bit. That may have cost me some time. I really didn't get the best out of myself, the car was a little bit better than I was today, I left a little on the table. I can't complain about how the KOOL car was handling. We're starting second, no complaints there, it's better than where we have been starting so we'll go out and try to have a good race. We have a good race car and we were able to do a lot of laps at those speeds. We'll try to get ahead of da Matta (Cristiano) at the start and if we can't, we'll try to put enough pressure on him until hopefully he makes a mistake. He's got a huge weight advantage on me, fifty or sixty pounds less. There's the difference in our times. There's a half second difference for sure right there. But I'm happy, the Team KOOL Green guys have done a great job and I'll do the best I can tomorrow."

Steve Challis - Chief Engineer
"I think we're all pretty happy, obviously we're not first and that's what we wanted to do. We'll be okay starting here and we'll just have to go out and get them tomorrow. We're getting a handle on this car and that's good for everyone, I'm pretty confident we'll be in good shape tomorrow come race time."
Dario Franchitti -- #27 KOOL Honda-Lola-Bridgestone
"I'm a bit disappointed not to be on pole, especially because it's for the Greg Moore Pole Award and I really wanted to have that. We made some changes to the car for the second run and I ended up being a bit slower. It's one of those things, it's so close, our laps were quite good, but not quite good enough today. We had a few problems near the end and when you're only separated by hundredths of seconds, you can't have these things happen. The car was quite good on used tires today, so hopefully that will put us in good shape for tomorrow. I have to say that the guys at Team KOOL Green have given both Paul and myself fabulous cars right out of the box this weekend, starting second and third is pretty good going and we'll see what happens tomorrow."

Barry Green - Team Owner:
"This is really good. Paul was quite close on one lap and nearly got it on the pole and he's done a tremendous job all weekend. The whole team has been brilliant, and we got the point out of yesterday's performance. I think we're looking really good for the race, watching their laps on used tires, I think both Paul and Dario are going to be fast tomorrow. Dario's one heck of a racer, he can maintain a tough pace and I think he's got the race car to do it in. I think we're got plenty left for tomorrow which is good."
