Tracy Leads Honda Vancouver Qualifiers

Paul Tracy again led the way for Honda in final qualifying for Sunday's Molson Indy Vancouver, heading a strong effort that has four Honda-powered drivers starting in the top six positions.

Already guaranteed a front row starting spot by posting the quickest time in yesterday's first qualifying round, the Canadian still made a determined run for the top spot in the closing minutes of final qualifying, coming up less than two-tenths of a second shy of Cristiano da Matta pole time.

Dario Franchitti will start third in the second Team KOOL Green Honda, with Team Motorola's Michael Andretti rounding out the top five. Driving for Mo Nunn Racing, Tony Kanaan moved up six positions from yesterday and will line up alongside Andretti for tomorrow's 100-lap downtown street race.

Owner/driver Adrian Fernandez also improved markedly today, moving up from 18th yesterday to 11th quickest overall, while teammate Shinji Nakano will start 13th.

Live television coverage for the 10th race of the CART FedEx Championship season starts tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. EDT on the Speed Channel cable/satellite network.

Paul Tracy (#26 Team KOOL Green Honda) Qualified 2nd: "We made some changes and the car felt good right away. I had a clean lap and it was really up to me to make it happen. I lost a little bit of time in a couple of areas, so I'm a bit disappointed by that. Here it sure doesn't take much here to loose a tenth here or there. The car has worked well all weekend on worn tires which should be good for the race."
