Mario Dominguez - Driver, Car 55, Grid Position: 12th
"I'm really happy for Pupo (teammate Roberto Moreno) for his third place in qualifying. I'm looking forward to seeing him up on the podium at the end of the day tomorrow! From my standpoint, we just haven't gotten my car set right yet this weekend. But we're improving all the time so we should be okay for tomorrow."
Roberto Moreno - Driver, Car 4, Grid Position: 3rd
"I'm really happy for this result but it has been hard work all weekend to get here. I almost went off the track four times today, trying to push harder! Vancouver is the same as I remember from two years ago - each time you go out, the track has more grip and is faster. When you come to a track like this where you know it is difficult to get a good lap with a lot of cars on the track, you have to risk a little bit. You know that if you go out early in the session you may not get the most out of the track - but you know that you can get clean laps. Yesterday this strategy really worked for me. Today, not so much because I was just warming up my tires when the red flag came out. But you have to try. People are asking me what has happened to make me fast 'all of a sudden' but I think the best way to describe it is that it's been an effort that's been growing in our team. Herdez Competition has grown to a two-car team this year. We've hired a bunch of good people, and they are starting to work together well. Since Germany, we have started to just gel and learn more and more and the results are starting to show now. The result today is just the result of all this effort."
1. Moreno's third place qualifying position sets a new season-best mark for 2003. It is also the best qualifying position for the team since Nazareth in 2001 when Michel Jourdain, Jr. qualified third.
2. The Molson Indy Vancouver will be Dominguez's 30th Champ Car start. He currently sits 8th in the championship with 62 points. Moreno will make his 112th Champ Car start. He is 12th in the standings with 39 points.
