LEXINGTON, Ohio - Team KOOL Green's Paul Tracy drove a smooth and steady race today to finish 4th in the Miller Lite 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Tracy scored his fourth top-five finish of the season and closed the gap on points leader Kenny Brack, who failed to finish the race.
Tracy's teammate Dario Franchitti didn't fare as well. Franchitti ran in the top five all day, but spun on a late-race restart after the third full-course caution of the race and finished 16th.
Helio Castroneves won his second consecutive Mid-Ohio race, with Gil de Ferran coming in second and Patrick Carpentier third.
PAUL TRACY, #26 TEAM KOOL GREEN HONDA/REYNARD:
(Started 8th / Finished 4th / Standing: 9th with 65 points)
"It was pretty uneventful, really. I had a little bit too much understeer in the KOOL car so it didn't handle great. But I was fast enough to stay in front of other guys, just not fast enough to do anything to challenge the guys in front of me. I spent the whole race just watching my mirrors and trying to get a good result, which we did. It was good we finished well and got a handful of points so I'm pretty happy. We got through this race and the only mark on the nose of the car is the one we painted on."
DARIO FRANCHITTI, #27 TEAM KOOL GREEN HONDA/REYNARD:
(Started 5th / Finished 16th / Standing: 4th with 81 points)
"It was my mistake. I turned in and was getting good feelings from the car and then when I got to the apex it just let go a bit - which it does on every lap -- and then it really let go and the car went around on me. I don't think it was cold tires. Maybe it was some marbles. Things had been going well up until then. The KOOL car maybe wasn't a first-place car, but it was a third-place car. It just wasn't to be today."
