CHAMPCAR/CART: Toronto: Saturday quoteboard

Sebastien Bourdais #1 McDonalds Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 1st)

"I guess the cars are getting faster and faster. It takes quite a few laps actually to get the full grip. I don't know if everybody agrees, but it took me quite a few attempts to really get the grip and the car going. In the meantime I seem to be struggling a little bit more in the corners as the run was going. It didn't look obvious we're going to be able to grab this one. But the team did a fantastic job. I'm really, really pleased. I think we have a good car. But obviously these two guys are pushing really hard. It could have gone either way. We're going to have to stay on our toes and keep working hard 'cause it's not automatic, that's for sure. The McDonald's team is very, very happy, though, and we'll try to do the best job we can for tomorrow."

Justin Wilson #9 CDW Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 2nd)

"Obviously I thought we had it for a minute, and then they came on the radio and told me Sebastien's time. I knew what mine was. Okay, I'm up again. I got the lap going. I just got carried away at turn six. As I went back to throttle, it pushed out and hit the wall. You know, pretty happy but also disappointed. You know, make the most of it. Looking forward to tomorrow and see if we can do well for CDW and all our sponsors."

Oriol Servia #7 INDECK Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 3rd)

"I am very happy with the performance of the car. We're solid there in the top three, top four all weekend. I think yesterday maybe we had a better car compared to the rest, and everybody kind of catch up. So we have to put the engineers to work tonight and give me again as good of a car as I had yesterday."

Simon Pagenaud #15 Aussie Vineyards Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 4th)

"The crew did great work by setting my car up for this session and the Aussie Vineyards car was really nice to drive. I made a couple of mistakes and was trying a little bit too hard, braking too hard and after that I calmed down a little bit and was able to carry more speed through the corner and finish with a good lap time in the end. I think P4 is quite good for a rookie, because honestly, this is not an easy place at all."

Bruno Junqueira #19 Sonny's Bar-B-Q Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 5th)

"I'm very happy with my car. The crew did an awesome job getting this car ready for me today after yesterday's crash. They gave ma an even faster car which I was able to qualify fifth. In the warmup we had engine coils that were damaged that we had to replace. Once we did that I was able to turn in my fastest lap of the day. I was in second position until I ran into some traffic which dropped me down to fifth. I think the best I could have qualified the car was third since there was no way I could catch Sebastien Bourdais or Justin Wilson. I am looking forward to the race tomorrow."

Alex Tagliani #8 Tide@Walmart Victory Lap Charity Program Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 6th)

"The RSPORTS team did a good job on the #8 Tide@ Wal-Mart Victory Lap Charity Program car from last night to today, as there was a huge improvement on the car. It was just unfortunate that we couldn't really improve the balance of the car on the red Bridgestone Potenza tires because we had a top-four car on the blacks. Basically, when we went to the reds we went backward. So that is really the only negative thing that is going on, I think that we are basically in the ballpark with all the rest. If we work a little bit more on the #8 car tonight and tomorrow, then we should be able to have a decent car to fight for a podium finish in tomorrow's race."

Will Power #5 Aussie Vineyards Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 7th)

"In the end we just needed a tenth and a bit to be up there. I think sitting out the last eight minutes cost us a little bit, because everyone went a little bit quicker in the end there and with the red tires we had a little bit more understeer. For tomorrow we will just see how we are in the morning, work on our strategy and just go for it."

Jan Heylen #34 Champ Car Grand Prix of Belgium Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 8th)

"I'm really happy for the team today; we have been working very hard for this top eight qualifying position. It is promising to see that every time we run the car we see improvement and we're steadily getting closer and closer to that top spot. Overall, I'm pleased that we were finally able to get a top-ten result and while I feel that I could have done a better time, I gave it my best effort. The tires were at their peak on lap three or four but I had my peak driving performance on lap six and by then the best of the tires was gone. I'm now looking forward to a great race and strong finish tomorrow."

Neel Jani #21 Red Bull-Gulfstream Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 9th)

"I had a good run on the first set of new Bridgestone red (alternate) tires in the Red Bull Gulfstream PKV Racing car. The second set I just tried to do a little bit more, but it was a little too much and I spun off. I just barely touched the barrier, but my rear wing was broken so I couldn't finish the stint. The Red Bull Gulfstream team definitely improved the car from yesterday to today. Now we just have to see what we can do in the race tomorrow."

Paul Tracy #3 INDECK Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 10th)

"The car felt pretty good this morning, we made some changes for qualifying and the car just didn't respond. I went fairly good on my first run on black tires, then we put on the Bridgestone reds on and I couldn't go any faster, I was actually slower. I had a clear track and I did four straight laps but I just couldn't make up any time on the reds. So it's definitely very disappointing, I thought for sure we would pick up a couple of tenths on reds and that would've moved us up to where Servia is compared to us so it's very frustrating. We've been struggling with understeer all weekend, we just can't seem to get the car to handle well for me, it's just frustrating."

Ryan Dalziel #28 PCM Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 11th)

"My team's been working hard and they've made a lot of improvements to the car overnight. I think we put in a good run there. Realistically I think 11th is a pretty good result for us as a rookie team. We've been shooting for top-ten's as our goal. We've been accomplishing that starting back further, so tomorrow I am setting my sights on a top-eight."

Robert Doornbos #14 Team Minardi USA Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 12th)

"It's fair to say that this afternoon's qualifying session was not one of the high points of our season to date. Even the best teams can have an off day, and I guess we had one of those today, but this team also has the depth of experience to take today's problems, work on them overnight, and improve the car for tomorrow's race. We're in the heat of the Championship battle and we have to remain focused on getting the best possible result tomorrow, and that's what we'll do. We have to work hard to stay competitive, but that's what it's all about."

"Speedy" Dan Clarke #4 Team Minardi USA Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 13th)

"We were slow today but with the top five yesterday we know we should be faster. We proved all year that we can race well so expect an exciting race tomorrow."

Tristan Gommendy #22 Pay By Touch-Megaspiera Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 14th)

"It was a disappointing qualifying session for the Pay By Touch MegaSpirea team. We improved the car, but not as much as everyone else. Now we go back to the garage, look at all the data and figure out what to do for the race tomorrow. Hopefully, we can improve the car and maybe, Jimmy (Vasser) and the team can come up with a race strategy that will give me a chance to get up front."

Graham Rahal #2 Medi|Zone Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 15th)

"The situation is frustrating. I don't think we have made any gains all weekend. In fact we lost ground after running eighth in provisional qualifying. It's embarrassing for me that we are so far back. I've never been in this position in my entire career. I don't understand why we are where we are and I can't make up the difference on the track. It bothers you when you can't figure out why. We always have a good car in the race but starting 15th at this place will make it almost impossible to get to the front no matter how good the race car is."

Katherine Legge #11 Dale Coyne Racing Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 16th)

"The rear of my car just stepped out on me going over the crest and stuck me into the wall. The good thins is that my teammate Bruno had the same damage done to his car yesterday and the team gave him an even faster car today. So even though I'm starting 16th tomorrow, I feel like I will be able to finish in the top ten"

Alex Figge #29 PCM/Molecule Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone (Qualified 17th)

"I was on a lap that was going to be an improvement in position and I over-shot the corner and flat spotted my reds. It was unfortunate as that was our last set a tires so we had to bring it in for the day. We're 17th and I am disappointed, but that's where we are and we are going to work hard for a solid result tomorrow."
