(July 15, 1998) -- When Bobby Rahal (Miller Lite Reynard Ford) takes the green flag Sunday, it will mark his 89th consecutive start, moving him into eighth place on the CART career list and making him the only driver in CART history with two streaks in the top 10. Rahal, CART's all-time leader with 255 career starts (256 Champ Car starts overall), also owns the fourth-place streak of 145 consecutive starts, beginning at Long Beach in 1984 and ending at Indianapolis in '93.

His current streak began a week later at Milwaukee in '93. Al Unser Jr. (Marlboro Penske Mercedes) holds CART's career record for consecutive starts, 192, beginning at Atlanta in 1983 and ending at Indianapolis in '95. Rahal could pass Geoff Brabham (90 consecutive starts, 1982-87) and move into seventh place by starting this weekend and at the U.S. 500 Presented by Toyota, July 26 at Michigan Speedway.
