JOURDAIN JR. RETIRES AFTER AN ACCIDENT

Herdez-backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. had a brilliant performance in the Molson Indy race. Unfortunately he retired after Montoya made contact with him at Turn 4. His final position was 21st.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #19 Herdez/Payton-Coyne Racing Team: "Montoya passed me at the end of the main straight and later I was able to repass him at the end of the back straight. I led Montoya for about 4 laps and then, Max (Papis) made a mistake at the end of the main straight and Montoya took advantage of that, overtaking me."

He added: "Then I tried to pass Montoya at the exit of Turn 3, side by side. But at the next Turn (a left hander) he didn't allow me to pass, squeezing me into the wall. In the process he touched the front of my car and in the rebound my right rear touched Montoya's left rear and we both were unable to continue."

Antonio Marron, Motorsports Director of the Herdez/Payton-Coyne Racing Team: "I am happy with Michel's performance. He drove very well fighting, for his position and the team also did a good job this weekend."
